While there are many cafes all over Singapore, most menus become predictable and at times, the portions served are not worth the high prices paid.
However, we recently chanced upon a hidden cafe in Ang Mo Kio that served affordable and delicious meals in HUGE portions that left us feeling really satisfied!
This cafe is Small Ville!
The first dish we had was of course, their Laksa Pasta.
This dish was only meant to be a seasonal item for National Day but became one of the mainstays due to many customers raving about it!
The pasta was cooked al dente and was coated in rich, aromatic laksa gravy. Savoury and
The dish also came with juicy prawns and a hard boiled egg, mimicking a typical bowl of laksa.
Overall, we loved the laska sauce and wished that there was more to slurp up! For $13.90, this huge serving of Laksa Pasta is really worth a try.
Next, we tried their Baked Salmon with Avocado Salsa!
The salmon is marinated with rosemary herbs and garlic, laid on a bed of fresh avocados!
We were amazed at how HUGE the salmon fillet was for $18.90. Truly the most value for money salmon dish we had so far!
We also ordered one of their breakfast menu items – Baked Avocado Toast.
This dish comes with avocado spread, fresh salad, eggs baked in avocados and a slice of their special homemade chrysanthemum bread!
The chrysanthemum bread is created by soaking the chrysanthemum flowers overnight using the cold brew method. This is to extract the taste of the flowers without making the bread too bitter!
Also, all their bread are eggless and have low sugar content. This makes Small Ville bread way healthier than commercial ones!
Indeed, the bread was different in a good way: Chewy, dense and
Finally, we ordered their sharing platter which came with fried chicken wings, scotch eggs and popcorn chicken with an AMAZING SECRET SAUCE.
When we asked the owner what the sauce was, she revealed that she was inspired by Ramly Burger’s sauce and decided to create her own version for the sharing platter!
Damn. If only we had the recipe to remake that! We couldn’t resist dipping everything in this Ramly Inspired Sauce.
To wash everything down, we had a pot of their Reflection flora tea – French Rose and Forget Me Not.
Despite the pot being swamped with flowers, the tea was delightfully light, well balanced and not too overpowering.
In all, the dining experience with Small Ville Bakery Cafe was great and we would definitely come back again to try their other dishes!
