Desserts always come after a meal, but in this case, we are SO in love with HRVST’s Chocolate Cake ($8) that we have to review it pronto.

This chocolate cake came slathered with nut butter, almond tuille and banana sorbet.

Each bite of the chocolate cake was like heaven. It was extremely rich and fudgy, basically everything a good chocolate cake should have. It’s a pity that the portion was small because oh boy would we have loved a larger chunk of that cake!

We also love the thick and creamy nut butter which paired beautifully with the moist chocolate cake. In any case, this dessert won over our hearts and was worth every single cent.

Moving on to our appetiser, we tried their Cassava chips with Cilantro Lime Mayo ($10).

For all you chips lovers out there, this is a great alternative to your typical greasy options.

Their Cassava chips were perfectly crisp and not oily AT ALL, and the Cilantro Lime Mayo was light and refreshing, adding a slight tang to the chips. Overall, this was really addictive and we couldn’t help but reach for more!

Another appetiser we tried was their Grilled Carrots ($12) made with pickled carrot ribbons, carrot top pesto, garlic snow and hazelnuts.

This dish was prepared like a work of art. We liked how the hazelnuts added a satisfying crunchy texture to the grilled carrots, but considering $12 for a carrot dish, we recommend just getting another portion of the Chocolate Cake, wink.

The final appetiser we tried was HRVST’s Pumpkin taco shell ($12) filled with quinoa, lentils, fresh coriander, shallots, jalepenos and chilli.

This was our next favourite! The pumpkin taco was REALLY crispy and flavourful with a spicy kick! This multi-dimensional dish felt like a party in our mouths.

For mains, we tried their BKT Barley Risotto ($18) made with diced daikon, pink radish, braised nuts, dough crisp and young jackfruit.

This dish has a herb-ish flavour just like a typical BKT and tasted meaty despite being vegan! Therefore if you are a meat lover, you won’t have to worry that the food here would taste like “rabbit food”. Overall, the Risotto had a simple and clean flavour, so you won’t feel ‘heavy’ and sluggish after polishing off the entire bowl.
