Opened very recently in October, Galettes (which translates to flat cake in French) is a cafe in Ang Mo Kio serving up a variety of crepe cakes.
Starting from just $6.50 onwards, flavours include Lemon, Crème brûlée, Strawberry and more! We decided to give the Strawberry one a try, along with their new seasonal flavour, Ferrero Crepe Cake!
The Strawberry Crepe cake was incredibly fluffy and tasted just like strawberry flavoured Meiji Milk! It wasn’t overly sweet, nor did it taste artificial.
We loved how we could feel the individual layers in our mouth, compared to some crepe cakes that just feel like one unified chunk. The airy cream gave the crepe cake a nice volume. We dare say this is the best crepe cake we’ve tasted so far in Singapore!
Our favourite however, was this Ferrero Crepe Cake!
This cake was layered generously with hazelnut cream and topped with a whole Ferrero Rocher! This cake is perfect for Nutella or chocolate lovers.
Sadly, this is a seasonal flavour but the owners are considering to make it a mainstay if it gets popular with the crowd. So far, feedback has been good and we are looking forward to trying this cake again!
Other than crepe cakes, they also serve up crepe suzettes.
This special French dessert is flambéed right in front of your eyes and comes with either Cherries or Oranges. The alcohol in this dessert gives quite a kick and might not be suitable for everyone. However, you can request for lesser alcohol, or none at all should you choose to order this!
The folded crepes were incredibly soft and warm, forming a nice contrast with the cold Italian gelato. That’s right, this ain’t some random ice-cream, but thick, creamy gelato specially made by an Italian!
While they specialise in crepe desserts, Galettes also serve finger food such as Truffle Fries, Sweet Potato Fries and Har Cheong Kai!
We decided to order their Har Cheong Kai, made with Galette’s in-house marinade. The wings were piping hot and incredibly crispy, the entire bowl was finished off in minutes!
We recommend that you pair those delicious wings with their range of ice cold ciders for a chill night.
They also serve up a wide variety of coffee and other typical cafe beverages. We tried their Matcha Latte which wasn’t too milky and had a prominent matcha taste! It wasn’t overly sweet either, making it a great beverage to pair with the desserts.
They also have a range of tea from Clipper Tea Co. if you are looking for something lighter to wash down the crepes with.
