Cosy Thai Restaurant At Purvis Street! – Thai 5 Review

Head down to Thai 5 at Purvis Street for a taste of authentic Thai Cuisine!

When we stepped in, we were greeted with cosy lighting and a quiet atmosphere. This place is perfect to chill out and dine at if you’re looking for some peace and serenity in the bustling city area.

The first item we tried was their Thai Fish Cake ($8 for 3 pieces).

The fish cake texture was nice and firm and paired really well with the Thai Chili Sauce at the side!

You can leave the sauce out, but the fish cakes may be a little plain for liking.

The Chili Sauce was mixed generously with peanut crumbs, cucumber and onions, adding a crunchy, multi-dimensional experience to the fishcake. We really loved the sauce and used up the entire saucer in no time at all!

Another starter that we tried was their Thai Style Otah ($15).

If you’re used to the typical fiery, spicy and smooth textured Otah wrapped in banana leaves, this will be a new experience for you!

These Thai Style Otah come in cute balls ( we felt this dish really resembled how escargots are served!) and had a mild spicy flavour.

These Otahs are perfect for sharing and great for those who can’t handle spice!

Our final side dish were these AMAZING Deboned and Stuffed Chicken Wings.

The skin was EXTREMELY CRISPY and not overly oily at all! (No more worrying about dabbing the oil off each wing!) Each bite was like heaven and it was really great how we could savour the juicy chicken meat for once and not bother about biting unto any bones.

Plus, the chicken itself was really fragrant and stuffed with garlic, leek and mushrooms! Definitely our favourite dish!

The final dish we had was their Olive Rice!

While this dish might look underwhelming, it was another dish that we really enjoyed!

We LOVED the tiny crispy shrimps and the flavourful chicken pieces! When everything was mixed together, it was a medley of flavours and textures all in one bite. This Olive Rice is definitely something we would order again in the future!
