But on to the more important question, does the Cheesecake Factory’s Cheesecakes live up to their online hype?
When we arrived at their store around 10.30am, the queue was short and we managed to get our hands on the much anticipated cheesecake desserts. Not the same can be said for the lunch crowd or after office hours situation though, you might want to drop by earlier to secure a slice for yourself!
We decided to get 5 flavours to try – Reese’s Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Raspberry, Wild Strawberries & Cream, Red Velvet and of course, the original Classic flavour.
The store actually stocks a ton of other cheesecake flavours, along with cupcake options. However, for their opening week, they only brought in a curated selection of the most popular flavours. The staff did assure us to look out for other bakes to come in the upcoming weeks.
Packaging wise, some customers were served with sturdy cardboard boxes which came the Cheesecake Factory’s logo nicely emblazoned on the cover.
Perhaps due to the fact that we only ordered 5 slices, ours came in plastic triangular packaging placed in a flimsy plastic bag. Therefore, some corners of the cheesecake were sadly shaved off during the bumpy transportation process of our taste test.
1. Reese’s Peanut Butter ($10.90)
Priced heftily at $10.90, some might be hesitant to spend on a single slice of cheesecake. However, this flavour was worth every penny, especially if you’re a huge fan of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or peanuts and chocolate in general.
This cheesecake is made with loads of crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – tossed within the amazingly smooth cheesecake layers, scattered generously on top of the cake itself and even incorporated into the addictive graham crust. Each bite is a rich medley of chocolate, peanut and cheese that is bound to satisfy any Reese’s Peanut Butter fan.
Our favourite part? The top of the cheesecake with all that thick, chocolate fudge and chocolate pieces.
We’ll gladly order more!
2. White Chocolate Raspberry ($8.90)
As children, the Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream from the Ice Cream Truck uncle outside our school were a popular a treat. This tastes just like the ice cream in an atas cheesecake form!
Topped off with white chocolate shavings, a dollop of light whipped cream and made with the most delicious chocolate cookie base (that tastes exactly like crushed Oreos, yum yum), this is the perfect flavour for those with a sweeter tooth!
3. Wild Strawberries & Cream ($9.90)
Y’know the Strawberry Milkshake from Pop Tate’s in Netflix’s addictive Riverdale series?
The prominent, nostalgic strawberry flavour in this Strawberries & Cream Cheesecake makes us feel as if we were transported to a similar 90’s diner and slurping up a good old glass of Strawberry Milkshake.
This cake, similar to its Raspberry counterpart, is on the sweeter side and so you might want to share this with someone in case it gets too jelak. That being said, the incredibly smooth consistency of their cheesecake just keeps you coming back for another bite!
4. Classic ($7.90) and Red Velvet ($9.90)
The most affordable slice from Beverly Hills Cheesecake and perhaps the one to try for an “original” taste, would be the Classic flavour.
A simple, no frills California style Cheesecake baked in a thin layer of graham cracker crumb.
We love how it is not too overly sweet, and somehow compared to other American cheesecakes, had a lighter texture. The whole thing just melts in your mouth in a one smooth, creamy and decadent puddle.
Sadly, due to packaging and transportation troubles, we weren’t able to salvage the Red Velvet Cheesecake.
The Cream Cheese Icing at the top had sadly melted off and was smushed to one side of the box.
The Red Velvet consists of cheesecake on the top half and a nice chunk of Red Velvet cake on the bottom.
The cheesecake and the cream cheese icing was shockingly sweet but the plainer, moist Red Velvet Base perfectly balanced it out.
So are they worth the hype?
To us, these cakes are indeed a cut above the rest – we can’t get over how smooth the texture is, with no lumpy or crumbly bits that you can find in other cheesecakes! We also love how unique their menu is, with other uncommon flavours such as Key Lime Pie, Banana Foster and even Chocolate Cherry. But of course, you gotta try it for yourself!
